What's left behind the scenes

  • The cartoon features 302 characters.
  • Pixar's first animated film released in and for the IMAX format.
  • During the early stages of development, the crew wanted to use the original 3D character models used in previous installments. However, the files with these models turned out to be incompatible with the new software, and the character models were ultimately recreated from scratch.
  • The garbage man in headphones who appears in the scene when Woody thinks his friends are in a trash bag is Sid Phillips – the main antagonist of the first 'Toy Story'. He is wearing the same black skull t-shirt, and his mumbled singing to heavy metal is performed by the same Eric Lloyd who voiced him in the first film.
  • In Spanish-speaking countries, the episodes where Buzz speaks Spanish were dubbed, but not into another language, but into Spanish again, but with a corresponding sound. For example, in the Latin American dub, Buzz speaks Spanish with a Latin American accent in a normal state, and in the aforementioned episodes switches to standard Spanish with a Castilian accent. Thus, even in the Spanish versions, the original joke of these episodes is preserved.
  • The number A113 appears in every Pixar film; it corresponds to the number of the classroom where John Lasseter, Brad Bird, Pete Docter, and Andrew Stanton studied at CalArts. Despite the many years that have passed, Andy's mother hasn't changed the license plate, which is still visible on the glass of her car in 'Toy Story 3' (2010).
  • As a tradition, each Pixar film briefly features a character from the next film. Upon close inspection, a poster with Finn McMissile, who became a new character in "Cars 2" (2011), can be noticed on the wall in Andy's room.
  • In the "Toy Story" trilogy, each previous film briefly features a character who will later become one of the key characters. This is the short advertisement for "Al’s Toys Barn" in the first film, where Al is a key character in the second film. It’s the appearance of Barbie dolls in the second part, and in the third part, Barbie is one of the key characters.
  • Buzz's batteries are produced by the "BnL" corporation from the film "WALL-E" (2008).
  • The bee on Bonnie's backpack is Welly from Pixar's first film.
  • The rounded, gray with a white belly, and strangely-eared toy in Bonnie's house is Totoro, a character from "My Neighbor Totoro" (1988). As in the original film, the toy does not speak but expresses emotions only through facial expressions, especially its 'signature' triangular smile.
  • The guard monkey can be spotted in the scene where Andy's mom brings toys into "Sunnyside", in Bonnie's hands.
  • In one episode, the Mega-Pupps character throws Lotso the bear into a trash can – this is a reference to the film "Star Wars: Episode 6 – Return of the Jedi" (1983), where Darth Vader similarly throws his master into a chasm.
  • In the first cartoon, when Andy is playing with toys at the beginning, he says: "This is a space dog with a force field, and this is a dinosaur, he eats space dogs with force fields." This script was used in the opening cartoon of the third part.
  • When the clown in Bonnie's house tells Woody about Lotso, he said that "the box with Lotso was unpacked right in front of him," although it was visible that he was sitting with his back to it.
  • The guard monkey can be spotted in the scene where Andy's mother brings toys into "Sunnyside", in Bonnie’s hands.
  • In the first cartoon, when Andy is playing with toys at the beginning, he says the phrases: “This is a dog with a force field, and this is a dinosaur, he eats dogs with force fields.” This scenario was used in the opening cartoon in the third part.
