What's left behind the scenes
- Directors Alejandro Rojas and Juan Sebastián Vásquez chose the presidency of Donald Trump (2017-2021) as the time period for the film's plot. It was then that the construction of the wall on the border between the US and Mexico was underway. The radio in the beginning of the film reports on the signing of the Catalan Declaration of Independence (it was signed on October 10, 2017).
- The idea for the film was born with its directors, Alejandro Rojas and Juan Sebastián Vásquez, originally from Venezuela, while crossing American customs. In addition, they included fragments of stories from their friends and relatives, who had also gone through this experience, in the plot.
