What's left behind the scenes

  • The screenplay was initially titled “Moving Target,” then upon launching the film into production it received the title “Dirty Harry 3,” and only later did it become “The Enforcer.” Eastwood stated that he did so as a tribute to his favorite film of the same name from 1951 starring Humphrey Bogart.
  • The screenwriters couldn’t manage to get their work to Eastwood, but they managed to catch him in the actor’s hometown, Carmel (where he would later become mayor), at his favorite diner where Clint liked to grab a bite.
  • The third Dirty Harry film turned out to be one of the most violent – 13 corpses in ninety minutes of screen time.
