What's left behind the scenes

  • A film adaptation of the novel of the same name by Arthur Hailey.
  • Van Heflin's final film role, shortly before his unexpected death less than a year after the film's release.
  • The Boeing 707 aircraft used in the film, registration number PT-TCS, crashed on March 21, 1989, while approaching for landing at the airport in São Paulo.
  • Burt Lancaster (1913-1994) made a good profit from this film, but despite this, he later called it “rubbish” and admitted that he only starred in it because the studio promised to fund several non-commercial films of his choosing in return.
