What's left behind the scenes
- The film is based on the play of the same name by Peter Morgan.
- Before Ron Howard was chosen as the film's director, the project was of interest to Martin Scorsese, Mike Nichols, George Clooney, Sam Mendes, and Bennett Miller.
- Frank Langella won a Tony Award for his role as Nixon in the original 2007 stage production.
- Both of the lead actors – Michael Sheen and Frank Langella – embodied in the film images they had previously created on stage. Ron Howard agreed to direct the film only if the studio allowed the same actors to play the main roles.
- Off-set, the actors did not break character and continued the Frost/Nixon rivalry, constantly arguing and mocking each other. Even when addressing Frank Langella or simply mentioning him, all members of the cast and crew used 'Mr. President'.
- When Frost persuades one of the studio bosses to buy his interview, a poster for M*A*S*H can be seen in the background.
- For his role as Nixon in the original 2007 stage production, Frank Langella was awarded a Tony Award for theatrical performance.
