What's left behind the scenes

  • Ashton Kutcher's strict diet during filming ended badly: he was hospitalized with pancreatic disease. The actor tried to approach the work on the character thoroughly. He not only watched many interviews with Jobs and copied his gait and manner of dress, but also switched to the diet that Jobs followed.
  • Almost all scenes in Steve Jobs' parents' house and their garage were filmed in Los Altos, California, where Steve Jobs lived in the 1970s.
  • The film was made without any involvement from Apple.
  • In one of the early scenes where Steve Jobs' girlfriend offers him acid, a rainbow pattern is visible on the pill, like the Apple logo.
  • In the scene depicting the first computer conference in 1977, Lucas Haas's badge is signed by the real Daniel Kottke, who was on set and ensured the accuracy of the scene's execution. Daniel Kottke himself appeared in a cameo role at the 1977 computer conference, specifically in the scene where Jobs walks towards the Apple booth.
  • While taking calligraphy classes, Jobs draws ones and zeros, which are the foundation of binary code.
  • Nolan Bushnell played a cameo role as the co-founder of Atari, sitting on the right side of the table, next to Arthur Rock, John Sculley, and Mike Markkula, when Steve Jobs presents the Apple 1984 commercial.
  • Gil Amelio’s phrase, “Apple is like a ship with a hole in the bottom, leaking water and my job is to get the ship pointed in the right direction,” was not translated entirely correctly in the Russian version: “Apple is a sinking ship with a hole in the bottom, and my goal is to keep it afloat.” A more accurate translation is: “Apple is a sinking ship with a hole in the bottom, and my job is to get it moving in the right direction.”
  • When Jobs visits a computer store in 1976 to sell the first Apple computer, several IBM monitors are displayed on the shelf, which did not become available for sale until several years later with the release of IBM computers.
  • Joe Walsh's song "Life's Been Good" plays in a 1976 scene, although the song itself didn't appear until 1978.
  • Before Jobs worked on the Macintosh project in the early 1980s, a second-generation blue Chevy Cavalier sedan drives by in a parking lot scene. These cars didn't appear until 1988.
  • When Jobs returns to Apple in the late 1990s, a silver second-generation Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van can be seen on the street outside the company's office. These vehicles didn't appear until 2006.
  • Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak meet in a conference room the evening before the IPO. As Wozniak gets up to leave the room, a notepad and a sheet of paper are on the table to his right. In the next shot, only the notepad is there.
  • When Steve's girlfriend tells him she is pregnant, the light in the room behind her flickers on and off.
  • When Jobs mentions Apple's new music player, he calls it "the iPod" (in the original audio). Jobs was against Apple device names starting with the article "the," explaining that the article "the" before the prefix "i" would be redundant.
