What's left behind the scenes

  • M. Night Shyamalan and Guillermo del Toro were considered to direct the film.
  • David Holmes, a stuntman and Daniel Radcliffe's double, suffered a serious spinal injury during a fall while filming an explosion scene and was paralyzed.
  • John Williams, the composer of the first three Harry Potter films, expressed interest in returning to work on this film.
  • Bill Weasley is played by Domhnall Gleeson, the son of actor Brendan Gleeson.
  • Production designer Stuart Craig drew inspiration from examples of Soviet architecture and sculpture when creating the interior sets. According to him, the appearance of the main hall of the Ministry of Magic was inspired by the views of Moscow Metro stations, particularly the 'Ploshchad Revolyutsii' station.
  • The bas-relief sculpture in the hall of the Ministry of Magic is a reworked version of Ivan Shadr’s 'Struggle with the Earth'. And at the top of the monument is none other than a slightly modified copy of 'Worker and Kolkhoz Woman'. Stuart Craig admitted that Vera Mukhina's sculpture made an indelible impression on him.
  • In Dolores Umbridge's office, there are pamphlets on fighting Muggle scum. The cover of one of them is designed in the style of D. Moore's works, and the character on it strongly resembles Maxim Gorky. This is not surprising, as a clay copy of the monument to Maxim Gorky, busts of Lenin and Stalin were constantly present in Craig's workshop during the project. The walls were decorated with Soviet posters from the 30s and 40s, and photographs of Stalinist skyscrapers and other examples of monumental Soviet construction were spread out on the tables.
  • 40 versions of Salazar Slytherin's locket were created for filming the scene of the Horcrux's destruction.
  • Production designer Stuart Craig drew inspiration from samples of Soviet architecture and sculpture when creating the interiors’ sets. According to him, the appearance of the main hall of the Ministry of Magic was inspired by the views of Moscow Metro stations, particularly the Ploshchad Revolyutsii station.
