What's left behind the scenes

  • Wes Craven was inspired to make this film by an article in the newspaper. The police received a report of illegal trespassing on private property. When officers arrived at the scene, the burglars had already fled. The police found children in the house whom their parents had locked up and were not allowed to leave their rooms.
  • Wes Craven (1939-2015) cast Wendy Robie and Everett McGill as the mother and father after seeing them play husband and wife in the television series "Twin Peaks" (1990-1991).
  • Hilary Swank auditioned for the role of the character named Roach. The character was written in such a way that it could be played by either a man or a woman.
  • Rob Zombie filmed the thriller "Halloween 2007" (2007) in the same house.
