What's left behind the scenes

  • Despite the film's title, Harold and Kumar actually spend only 5 minutes and 33 seconds of screen time directly in Guantanamo Bay.
  • The mask that Harold pulls out of Neil Patrick Harris's bag is a copy of the one worn by Christopher Fehn, percussionist and backing vocalist for the American nu-metal band Slipknot.
  • The American branch of Amnesty International sharply criticized the film, stating on its website that Guantanamo Bay detention camp is not a suitable subject for jokes. At cinemas showing the film, activists distributed flyers and brochures to viewers about alleged human rights violations that took place at Guantanamo Bay.
