What's left behind the scenes

  • During filming, the actors and crew lived in a woodland cabin that appears in the film. Wi-Fi was limited and cell service unreliable. These difficulties only brought the team closer together.
  • One of the first script versions envisioned the action taking place at Christmas amidst a snowy backdrop. However, this idea was ultimately abandoned.
  • The film's shooting period lasted only 9 days, plus an additional 3 days were spent on reshoots.
  • Lambie (the dog's name in the film is Joy) is a Cockapoo – a Cocker Spaniel and Poodle mix – and belongs to the film's writer and producer, Winter Bassett, who also played the lead role. Bassett was the only member of the entire creative team who didn't doubt that Lambie would deliver a perfect performance – and she was right (it only took a little treat and persuasion).
  • The original script called for a zombie comedy with two male leads, but director Jordan Lemmlen reimagined the concept and cast Winter Bassett in the lead female role.
  • Initially, Amy Lemmlen was on set only as a dog trainer, but it turned out she could cry on cue, and she was given a small role.
