- Actress Daisy Donovan, who also appears on screen, brought contemporary youth slang to the script. She later admitted that she went to the library for this purpose and secretly listened to conversations of teenagers preparing for prom.

The dance performed by the girls included some aggressive elements from the current All Blacks repertoire: a stance with slightly bent knees and arms crossed, clenched into fists; sticking out the tongue and shouting towards the opposing team; slapping their elbows, hips and chest; and dropping to one knee, supporting themselves on a clenched fist with a menacing expression.
