What's left behind the scenes

  • Working titles for the film were “Breacher” and “Ten”.
  • Kate Mara and Isla Fisher auditioned for the role eventually taken by Malin Akerman, but later Akerman dropped out of the film due to pregnancy and was replaced by Mireille Enos.
  • Dawn Olivieri was considered for one of the roles.
  • For his role in this film, Arnold Schwarzenegger spent three months perfecting his weapons handling skills. He trained at a SWAT base in Los Angeles.
  • David Ayer reported that "Sabotage" was significantly cut by the studio to make the film more action-packed, thereby changing the original idea of a detective thriller. The original version of the film was rumored to be around 3 hours long.
  • Initially, the film had a completely different ending in two versions with slight differences: after Caroline and John detained Lizzy, she began to confess, and John shot her before she could say more and discreetly disappeared. Caroline and her colleague Jackson went to the lake to pick up the money. John also showed up there, stabbed Jackson with a knife, and began to fight with Caroline in the water. The film's director, David Ayer, shot 2 versions of this scene: Caroline escapes, and John confronts two police cars. When he tries to leave with the money, he kills the police officers and prepares to drive away in one of the cars. In the first version, Caroline appears at that moment and kills John. In the second, John shoots Caroline before she can pull the trigger and drives away in the car. Both versions were rejected by the producers, and they forced Ayer to shoot another ending where Arnold Schwarzenegger becomes an anti-hero, but not a villain.
  • While surveilling John "Breacher" Wharton, the agents of the security service have rain on their windshield, while the person being pursued has clear weather.
