What's left behind the scenes
- Sam Worthington was considered for the role of Duke.
- David Murray was originally intended to play Destro.
- Skip Woods wrote an early version of the script featuring Alex Mann and his wife Scarlett. Ryan was supposed to be the main villain.
- Lorenzo di Bonaventura initially wanted Mark Wahlberg to play Duke.
- Common was offered the role of Roadblock, Heavy Duty's cousin. He declined. Later, the roles of Heavy Duty and his cousin were rewritten, merging them into one character.
- To prepare for the role of the Baroness, Sienna Miller trained intensely for four months, gaining five pounds (about two kilograms) of muscle mass.
- All scenes featuring Dennis Quaid were filmed in the first two months of shooting.
- In 2003, Don Murphy was supposed to be the producer of the film, but he reached an agreement with 'Hasbro Company' to produce 'Transformers' (2007).
- Larry Hama, the creator of 'G.I. Joe' (1984), was hired as a consultant.
- Initially, Channing Tatum declined the offer to star in the film because he believed it glorified war. However, after reading the script, he changed his mind, as he saw the film more as a fantastical action thriller rather than a war movie.
