What's left behind the scenes

  • Concurrently with Mary Herron's film, Martin Scorsese and Liv Tyler were developing their own project about Betty Page. At the last moment, Scorsese received the green light to film "The Aviator" (2004), and Tyler left the project along with him.
  • The film's authors took the courtroom dialogue from actual court transcripts. Similarly, the conversation between Irving and Paula Klau in the courthouse was reproduced verbatim from Irving's correspondence and personal statements.
  • Mary Herron makes a cameo appearance in the film as a female photographer who asks Betty to "smile for the boys."
