What's left behind the scenes

  • The film takes place seven years after the events of the first film. Dracula is now 539 years old, Mavis is 125, and Jonathan is 28.
  • 24 storyboard artists, 23 visual effects specialists, 17 matte painters, 105 animators, and 87 lighting artists worked on the film. A total of 194 characters and 74 locations were drawn.
  • The airport that appears in the film was modeled after San Jose International Airport in Northern California, the closest airport to Santa Cruz, where Jonathan is from.
  • Since Dracula visited Camp Winnepacaca as a child, the team of artists and set decorators had to figure out how to keep the camp's location secret for 1000 years. No one was supposed to find it. Ultimately, it was decided to place the camp deep within an ancient mountain, from which vampires would emerge only under the cover of night. The artists were inspired by the real city of Rjukan in Norway, which is built in a narrow valley where sunlight barely penetrates. In 2013, three mirrors, each with an area of 17 square meters, were installed on the mountain ridge to illuminate the city.
  • On the notice board in Camp Winnepacaca, which can be glimpsed in the scene where Frank is running on fire, you can find a lot of fun information: A list of all the artists from the visual effects department; The name of the art director Michael Kurinsky's cat.
  • The number on Denis's jerseys indicates how old the character is.
  • The final model of Denis's hairstyle consisted of 265 individual hairs. When the computer added the rest, the number increased to 150,000 hairs.
  • Jonathan's parents, Maika and Linda, were voiced by the married couple – Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally.
  • Some friends and relatives of Adam Sandler voiced cameo roles in the film: Adam Sandler's 9-year-old daughter Sadie Sandler voiced the role of the pup Winnie, and his 6-year-old daughter Sunny Sandler – the role of baby Denis; "Saturday Night Live" (1975) star Chris Parnell voiced the role of Fly; Paul Brittain voiced the role of Pandragora; Screenwriter Robert Smigel voiced the navigator's lines, as well as the wizard monster Three-Eyed Harry.
  • Silho Green, who voiced Murray (the mummy) in the first film, did not voice this character in the second part because he was arrested. Keegan-Michael Key voiced the character instead.
  • Mel Brooks, who voiced Vlad (Dracula), previously directed the film "Dracula: Dead and Happy" (1995).
  • The group Fifth Harmony recorded the main musical theme of the film called "I'm In Love With a Monster".
  • The name of the character Bela, voiced by Rob Riggle, is a reference to actor Bela Lugosi.
  • When Blobby's scooter is attached to the car, the bolts are loosened, not tightened.
  • In the scene where Dracula dances with Mavis on the ceiling, during the rehearsal before the wedding, Mavis's veil hangs down towards her shoulders, despite them dancing upside down.
  • Jonathan's parents, Mike and Linda, were voiced by the couple Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally.
  • Some of Adam Sandler's friends and relatives voiced cameo roles in the film: Adam Sandler's 9-year-old daughter Sadie Sandler voiced the role of the cub Winnie, and his 6-year-old daughter Sunny Sandler – the role of Dennis as a baby; "Saturday Night Live" (1975) star Chris Parnell voiced the role of Fly; Paul Brittain voiced the role of Pandragora; Screenwriter Robert Smigel voiced the navigator, as well as the monster-wizard Three-Eyed Harry.
  • Mel Brooks, who voiced Vlad (Dracula), previously directed the film "Dracula: Dead and Happy" (1995).
  • The group Fifth Harmony recorded the film's main musical theme titled "I'm In Love With a Monster".
  • The name of the character Bela, voiced by Rob Riggle, is a reference to actor Bela Lugosi.
