- This film is an American remake of the 1988 film “Spoorloos,” which was highly rated by both authoritative critics and ordinary viewers. Notably, both films were directed by the same director.
- The film's budget was $20 million, which is 10 times the financial basis of the original 1988 Dutch thriller.
- George Sluizer was allowed to film an American remake of his own film only on the condition that he rework the ending. The local audience would not accept the tragic and hopeless ending of the original film.
