What's left behind the scenes

  • The soundtrack features the song «Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini».
  • Actress Julia Montgomery declined to reprise her role as Betty, as she had done in the first film of the franchise («Revenge of the Nerds», Jeff Kanew, 1984), because the original script stipulated that Betty cheated on Lewis. The sequel's director, Joe Roth, offered to rewrite that scene, but the actress stood her ground. She did, however, appear in the sequels (1992 and 1994). The film opens with Lewis keeping a photograph of Betty, hinting that they are still together, and later in the film, he cheats on her with Sunny, played by Courtney Thorne-Smith.
  • Anthony Edwards was reluctant to appear in the sequel for several reasons: he felt that the original film had already told the entire story, he did not want his name to be associated solely with this type of comedy, and he simply did not like the script. Regardless, he was bound by the terms of his contract and had to play the role. The script was specifically revised so that Edwards could quickly shoot his scenes. In the next sequel (1992), this character was played by Mike Greenwood, and he is simply absent from the final installment of the franchise.
