What's left behind the scenes
- The mass dance scene in Grand Central was originally supposed to take place in a subway station and without dancing – according to the script, subway passengers were supposed to listen to a black homeless woman singing. Gilliam decided that the scene wouldn't 'work' in that form and made changes to it. The scene was filmed overnight, with professional dancers and ordinary passengers getting off the train.
- Since the film's release, every New Year's Eve in the main hall of Grand Central Station, the orchestra plays a waltz and everyone present dances.
- In this film, Terry Gilliam returned to the theme of the Holy Grail, which he had previously touched upon in "Monty Python and the Holy Grail".
- American singer and composer Tom Waits appeared in a cameo role as a veteran beggar.
- "The Fisher King" was the first film by Terry Gilliam in which he did not participate in the screenplay writing. It is also the first film by Gilliam that does not feature any members of the Monty Python comedy troupe.
