What's left behind the scenes
- Tami Erin's already red hair was further dyed to achieve a brighter shade. There were over 8,000 applicants for the role of Pippi from all over the world. The main selection criteria were the ability to sing, dance, tumble, and ride horseback.
- Faye Masterson was one of the main contenders for the role of Pippi. The director liked her so much that he specifically added a small supporting role for her – that of an older girl in the orphanage.
- The bookish surname of Tommy and Annika Settergren in the film is slightly changed to Setigren.
