What's left behind the scenes

  • Initially, George Clooney was planned to play the main role, but he dropped out due to health problems.
  • Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ryan Gosling, Alexander Skarsgård, Ewan McGregor, Robert Pattinson, Matt Damon, Christian Bale, Michael Fassbender, Bradley Cooper, Leonardo DiCaprio, Joel Kinnaman, Russell Crowe, Chris Pine, Ryan Reynolds, and Jon Hamm were considered for the role of Napoleon Solo.
  • Gemma Arterton, Alice Eve, Mia Wasikowska, Emilia Clarke, Felicity Jones, Teresa Palmer, and Sarah Gadon auditioned for the role that was eventually given to Alicia Vikander.
  • Tom Cruise was offered the role of Napoleon Solo, but he decided to focus on "Mission: Impossible 5." Henry Cavill, who was originally cast in another role, replaced Tom.
  • Joel Edgerton and Henry Cavill auditioned for the role that went to Armie Hammer. Henry Cavill subsequently received a different role.
  • "U.N.C.L.E." stands for "United Network Command for Law and Enforcement."
  • Most of the stunts were performed by Henry Cavill and Armie Hammer themselves.
  • It took Warner Bros. studio more than ten years to film this movie.
  • Steven Soderbergh was originally going to direct, but left the project due to disagreements with the studio regarding the budget and casting.
  • In the film, Ilya Kuryakin uses a modified "Walther p38" pistol. This is a reference to the "Walther p38" from the original "The Avengers" (1964-1968) series. Furthermore, this pistol is absolutely identical to the one the Japanese used in the early 1980s when creating the "Microman" toy, which transformed from a pistol into a robot. Later, the design of this toy was bought by the American company "Hasbro", which began selling this toy as Megatron (G1) from the "Transformers" (1984-1987) cartoon series.
  • The events of the film take place a year or two after the Cuban Missile Crisis. This is an original story that was not told in the "The Avengers" (1964-1968) series.
  • Some of the costumes used in the film are actually vintage clothing.
  • Guy Ritchie drew inspiration from the film "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" (1969).
  • Henry Cavill, who played Napoleon Solo in this film, also played Superman in "Man of Steel" (2013). Actor Robert Vaughn, who played Napoleon Solo in the original "The Avengers" (1964-1968) series, played the villain in "Superman III" (1983).
  • Filming took place in the longest sound stage in London.
  • All scenes with Hugh Grant were filmed in three weeks.
  • Ilya puts a ring on Gabi's left hand, while the Soviet architect's bride cannot wear a wedding ring on that hand.
  • At Victoria Vinciguerra's reception, Napoleon, during a 'chance' embrace, removes a thick gold chain from her, as shown in a flashback during their conversation. However, earlier in the film, it is visible that the chain remained on Victoria after the embrace.
  • At the end of the film, in one of the files on Ilya Kuryakin, the country of origin is listed as: RUSSIA. As is known, such a country did not exist at that time; it was the USSR.
  • Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ryan Gosling, Alexander Skarsgård, Ewan McGregor, Robert Pattinson, Matt Damon, Christian Bale, Michael Fassbender, Bradley Cooper, Leonardo DiCaprio, Joel Kinnaman, Russell Crowe, Chris Pine, Ryan Reynolds, and Jon Hamm were considered for the role of Napoleon Solo.
  • U.N.C.L.E. stands for United Network Command for Law and Enforcement.
  • In the film, Illya Kuryakin uses a modified 'Walther p38' pistol. This is a reference to the 'Walther p38' from the original 'The Man from U.N.C.L.E.' series (1964-1968). Furthermore, this pistol is absolutely identical to the one the Japanese used in the early 1980s when creating the 'Microman' toy, which transformed from a pistol into a robot. Later, the design of this toy was bought by the American company Hasbro, which began selling it as the Megatron (G1) transformer from the 'Transformers' cartoon (1984-1987).
  • Henry Cavill (who played Napoleon Solo) prepared for a long time for the stunt of pulling the tablecloth out from under the dishes set on the table. He was trained by Matt Ricardo, a star of the entertainment industry from the UK. Cavill successfully performed the stunt.
  • Henry Cavill, by his own admission, felt great relief learning that he wouldn't have to play shirtless in this film. Before this film, he had played in a number of films where such scenes were present, and the actor was required to be in good physical shape. According to the actor, it was nice to focus specifically on acting, rather than on a perfect physique, maintaining which requires so much time and effort.
  • Napoleon Solo's costumes, worn by Henry Cavill, were sewn by the renowned British tailor Timothy Everest, who previously worked on costumes for James Bond films and the *Mission: Impossible* franchise. The details of Solo's costumes contain some references to fashion from the late 1960s. During a fitting for one of the costumes at Everest's atelier, the actor accidentally broke the door of the fitting room. Everest's staff did not repair it, leaving it as a memento of the time "Superman" himself broke the door.
