What's left behind the scenes
- According to Hulk Hogan, who played the main role, he had an accident while riding a jet ski just before filming began. However, other wrestlers claimed that Hogan was punched in the face backstage at WrestleMania IX (a professional wrestling show that took place on April 4, 1993, in a suburb of Las Vegas). As a result, Hogan wore an eye patch for almost the entire film, and the script was revised to include a scene where Spencer, played by Hogan, is struck in the face by a character played by Jim Neidhart.
- The film served as a pilot for a two-part television series of the same name.
- Andre the Giant (born Andre Rene Roussimoff, a professional French wrestler and actor of Bulgarian-Polish descent) was considered for one of the roles, but he died at the age of 46 just a few months before filming began.
- At the beginning of the film, the characters played by Hulk Hogan and Chris Lemmon rescue a Cuban with his son from terrorists. This part of the film, with some additional material not present in the pilot project, was repeated in an episode of the television series titled “An Eye for an Eye”.
