What's left behind the scenes
- Interiors of Russian buildings were filmed in Finland. The interior of the Bolshoi Theatre was recreated in London, United Kingdom. The Dorchester Hotel in London's Mayfair depicts The Bellevue Hotel in Bern, Switzerland.
- Filming took place in almost 50 locations and on almost 90 sets.
- Hussain Amin received a copy of John le Carré's unpublished novel from the writer's agent, David Cornwell, who was also his agent. Amin worked on the first two drafts of the screenplay together with le Carré.
