- Initially, Gemma Arterton was to play the role of Nicola Six, but she was later replaced by Amber Heard.
- The film was shot in 2015, but its release was delayed due to legal issues. In 2016, the producers filed a lawsuit against Amber Heard, seeking $10 million for breach of contract and refusal to film nude scenes. In 2017, the actress filed a countersuit, claiming that the producers used a body double to create the impression that Heard had performed nude scenes in more scenes than stipulated in the contract.
