- Eric Bork, portraying Bruce Willis in the film, was Willis’s stunt double during the filming of Lena Wiseman’s action movie "Live Free or Die Hard" (2007).
- The actors who played characters in the "The Expendables" franchise met on the set of this film. After completing work, they decided not to part ways and continued to collaborate on other projects under the name "The Expendables".
- The President, played by Diedrich Bader, recounts that the idea to organize the "Very Hungry Games" came to him after watching the science fiction thrillers "The Running Man" (Paul Michael Glaser, 1987) and "Battle Royale" (Kinji Fukasaku, 2000). This is a humorous reference to accusations against Suzanne Collins that she plagiarized the concept of "The Hunger Games" (the first film in the franchise was released in 2012) from Kosun Takami's 1999 novel "Battle Royale".
