What's left behind the scenes

  • The sounds made by Snoopy and Woodstock are taken from old recordings of Bill Melendez.
  • The first full-length animated film featuring these characters in 35 years.
  • This is the first cartoon featuring characters created by Charles M. Schulz, made after his death in 2000.
  • Charles M. Schulz maintained that the boy Charlie Brown is not bald, but simply has hair so light it is barely visible.
  • Notes left behind by Charles M. Schulz reveal that the Little Red-Haired Girl (an unseen character in his comics and the object of Charlie Brown's affections) was meant to be named Donna Wald, just like the real girl from whom Schulz drew inspiration for the character.
  • The filmmakers made every effort to closely match the visuals to the spirit of the comics and the cartoons based on them. For example, trees and bushes are always still, never swaying in the wind. Even the depiction of the main characters is somewhat blurry, to make them resemble the hand-drawn characters of cartoons from years past.
  • As in the comics themselves, the floor of Snoopy's doghouse is never shown in the cartoon.
  • The screenplay for the cartoon was written in 2006 by Schulz's son, Craig, and grandson, Brian.
  • Kristin Chenoweth, who voices Fifi, won a Tony Award for her role as Sally Brown in the 1999 Broadway production of the classic musical "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown." This is the third cartoon from 20th Century Fox that she has voiced.
  • When Charlie Brown becomes famous, other children start to flock around him. Shermy (this is the first scene in the cartoon where he appears) grabs Charlie's hand and says, "I was the first to notice him!" In the very first comic strip of the series, Shermy is indeed the first to notice Charlie Brown.
  • The cartoon is released 50 years after the debut of the first short film in the "Peanuts" series, "A Charlie Brown Christmas," and 65 years after the first comic strip of the series went on sale.
  • This is the first cartoon whose English title does not include the names of Snoopy and Charlie Brown.
  • Charlie Brown shows Patty and Violet a collection of comics from the "Barney Google" series, the cover of which features a horse nicknamed Spark Plug. Friends called Schulz "Sparky" in honor of this character.
  • In the year the cartoon was released, Charles M. Schulz was honored with inclusion in the California Hall of Fame. The award was presented to his wife, Jean.
  • Steve Martin perceives this cartoon as a heroic odyssey. "Charlie Brown falls again and again, but each time he gets up and refuses to give up. That's a wonderful character trait," Martin said. "In my opinion, having such good stubbornness and treating those around you well in general is an achievement no less significant than having a nameplate unveiled on the Hollywood Walk of Fame or achieving star status on Broadway."
  • This is the first computer-animated film based on the "Peanuts" comic strip.
  • "Snoopy and Charlie Brown in the Cinema" was the tenth cartoon released by Blue Sky Studios.
  • Steve Martino and the animators spent over a year studying Charles M. Schulz’s "Peanuts" comic strips before "bringing the warmth of Schulz’s hand-drawn illustrations to the indifferent world of pixels and computer graphics".
  • One scene features the logo of the company “Mendelson and Melendez.” The creators of the cartoon named it in honor of Lee Mendelson and Bill Melendez, who served as executive producers of the “Peanuts” television cartoon series for many years.
  • While talking to Charlie Brown about the little red-haired girl, Lucy mentions real estate. For many years, the topic of real estate has invariably been touched upon with every appearance of this character on screen and in print.
  • In the comics, Patty is a brunette who wears an orange dress. In the cartoon, however, she is blonde and wears a green dress.
  • The songs “Snoopy vs. the Red Baron,” “The Return of the Red Baron,” and “Snoopy’s Christmas” were performed by the rock band The Royal Guardsman. These three songs form a trilogy. “Snoopy vs. the Red Baron” was recognized as one of the best songs of the 1960s, and in late 1966, it reached number two on the “Billboard” charts.
  • Among the list of grades given to students, you can see the name of a red-haired girl. She is fourth on the list and her name is Heather Wald. The character first received the name "Heather" in the short animated film "It's Your First Kiss, Charlie Brown" (1977).
  • Judging by the design of the scoreboard at the baseball field where Charlie Brown's team practices, no one has expected a win from the home team here for a long time.
  • The cartoon was released in theaters alongside the short film "Cosmic Scratastrophe" featuring the character from "Ice Age".
  • The idea to make the Red Baron Snoopy's opponent came to Schulz thanks to his son's hobby of collecting model airplanes from World War I. A triplane model is present in the cartoon's plot.
  • On the logo of the moving company on the side of the truck, you can read "Mendelson and Melendez." These people played a significant role in the cinematic history of "A Charlie Brown Christmas." Mendelson produced all the short films and co-wrote the song "Christmas Time is Here." Melendez worked as an animator at the studio that made over 40 short films based on Schulz's comics.
  • Number four on the list of grades assigned to students is the name "Heather Wold." Apparently, that's what the redhead was called. In the 1977 cartoon "It's Your First Kiss, Charlie Brown," the redhead was named Heather. The surname "Wold" comes from Donna Wold, whom Schulz dated for three years but who then rejected his marriage proposal. Schulz and Donna remained close friends until his death in 2000.
