What's left behind the scenes
- For the scene where their characters fall into the water, John P. Ryan, Pam Grier, and Patrick Kilpatrick wore wetsuits under their clothes. The water turned out to be so cold that the wetsuits alone were not enough. Bathtubs with warm water were set up nearby where the actors warmed up between takes.
- Malcolm McDowell's involvement in the filming was limited to two days.
- It took approximately 8 hours to apply makeup to John P. Ryan, Patrick Kilpatrick, and Pam Grier before the final fight.
- According to director Mark L. Lester, filming the youth gang fight on the pier took 3-4 days.
- During the final fight in the workshop between Kilpatrick's and Bradley Gregg's characters, the android was operated by around ten puppeteers.
