What's left behind the scenes

  • At the time of its release, this was the most ambitious project not only for Tollywood (Telugu cinema) but for Indian cinema as a whole, and it was released in the largest number of countries worldwide.
  • Bahubali is a character from Jain mythology. He is an embodiment of ahimsa (non-violence) and asceticism. The name translates to "owner of mighty arms".
  • This is the first Indian film where the creators used AMD processors in the work on special effects and animation.
  • The first Indian film for which special effects were created in five countries.
  • 20,000 units of weaponry were specifically created for the film.
  • Over 5,000 actors were involved in filming the battle scene with the wild tribes, and work on it lasted more than 200 days.
  • The Kalakeya tribe speaks a language specifically invented for the film. It contains 748 words and 40 grammatical rules.
  • The waterfall scene was filmed at Athirappilly Falls. Its magnificence was enhanced using special technologies.
  • To prepare for the role of the antagonist, Rana Daggubati gained 33 kilograms.
  • The role of Queen Shivagami was initially offered to actress Sridevi, but she requested 60 million Indian rupees as her fee. The producers decided this was too much and turned to Ramya Krishnan.
  • Prabhas, the lead actor, had to first build up muscle mass, as scenes with Amarendra were filmed first, and then shed it to portray the image of Shivudu on screen.
  • Bahubali is a character in Jain mythology. He is the personification of ahimsa (non-violence) and asceticism. The name translates to "possessor of mighty arms".
