What's left behind the scenes
- The idea for the film came to director and screenwriter Bill Plympton in a dream he had about a skull from which terrifying snakes, lizards, spiders, and insects were crawling. He thought it was a great idea for a film about the 50s and “revenge at the prom.” Thus, the general concept was born, and he began to draw.
- The entire drawing process (approximately 30,000 drawings over a year) was captured by a device called the “Plympton Ani-Cam.” This was a small camera fixed above Plympton’s electronic drawing tablet and connected to a server, allowing people around the world to observe the slow and methodical process of creating the cartoon in real time.
