What's left behind the scenes

  • Woody Allen considers the film "Husbands and Wives" one of his best works, because, as he later noted, all the radical experiments he undertook during filming were successful.
  • A month before the film's premiere, Allen's civil wife Mia Farrow publicly accused Allen of molesting their minor daughter Dylan. When Farrow made the accusation, there were still four days left to finish filming, but both Allen and Farrow completed the remaining shooting days. Subsequently, a police-ordered medical examination was conducted, and the accusations of pedophilia were dropped against Allen.
  • The film was shot entirely on a handheld camera.
  • Hoping to profit from the scandal surrounding the film, TriStar presented "Husbands and Wives" in 865 theaters. This became the largest number of screens ever allocated for the release of a Woody Allen film in the United States.
