What's left behind the scenes

  • Peter Cushing expressed regret over the presence of a rape scene in the film and apologized to his co-star, Veronica Carlson.
  • The rape scene was added at the last moment, when filming was almost complete, because the head of Hammer Studios, Sir James Carreras, felt the film lacked 'sex'.
  • The flowers in Frankenstein's buttonhole change color and shape with each shot change when he first invites Mrs. Brant into Anna's house. Initially, there are three yellow tulips and one burgundy one, then it’s a boutonniere of purple and orange flowers during his conversation with Mrs. Brant in the living room, after which, when he accompanies her downstairs – it's the same flowers as at the beginning.
  • During the scene where the water pipe bursts, a member of the film crew can be spotted. As Frankenstein enters the house and walks down the hallway, the camera pans to the left, and at that moment someone quickly disappears into a doorway.
  • When Anna drags the corpse into the bushes, on the brick shoulder of the road, to the left of the corpse's feet, the shadow of one of the crew members is visible.
  • In the scene where Anna receives the knife wound, and in the scene where her husband finds her, the scalpel is positioned differently.
