What's left behind the scenes
- Plans to film a sequel to "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" were announced two days after its release in 2014.
- Stephen Amell compared the role of Casey Jones to his role as Oliver Queen in the series "Arrow" (2012). "Casey Jones is somewhat reminiscent of Oliver Queen from the older comics," he said.
- Judith Hoag, who played a cameo role, played April O'Neil in the film "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" (1990). She also appeared in "Armageddon" (1998) directed by Michael Bay.
- The motto on the battle van reads "Turtle Brothers" ("tartaruga" is Italian for "turtle"). In the animated series "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. New Adventures!" (2003), the motto "Tortuga Brothers" ("tortuga" is Spanish for "turtle") can be read on the second battle van.
- Professional Irish wrestler Sheamus (real name Stephen Farrelly) played the role of Rocksteady.
- The film was originally scheduled for release in 2017.
- Judith Hoag, who played April O'Neil in *Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles* (Steve Barron, 1990), filmed a cameo role, but the scene with her did not make it into the theatrical release.
- Brad Garrett, who voiced Krang, is friends with Pat Fraley, who provided Krang’s voice in the *Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles* animated series (1987-1996). When Garrett was chosen to voice the character, Fraley wholeheartedly supported his candidacy.

- A chessboard is shown in Baxter Stockman's laboratory. This detail comes from the comics published by "IDW Publishing", where Baxter's father once played chess with him to develop his mental abilities.
- In the film, Baxter Stockman names his computer "O.M.N.S.S." (pronounced "OMNUS"). In the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" cartoon (1987-1996), Shredder and Baxter Stockman team up with an artificial extraterrestrial intelligence with a similar name to open a portal to the Dimension X. - Casey Jones serves in the police force. This is a tribute to the character known as Nobody, an ally of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles who was a police officer and became a superhero.
