What's left behind the scenes

  • The 'Dew' Line, or the early warning radar line, was a system of radar stations in the far north of the Canadian Arctic region, with additional facilities along the northern coast and the Aleutian Islands of Alaska, as well as in the Faroe Islands, Greenland, and Iceland. It was created to detect approaching Soviet bombers during the Cold War. Almost all of the facilities were subsequently mothballed, and some were incorporated into the North Warning System.
