What's left behind the scenes

  • According to the plot, the film takes place in San Francisco, but it was filmed in Italy, in the vicinity of Rome. The film's main cinematographer and several minor actors are Italian.
  • Despite the titles, "Troll 2" and "Troll 3" are not sequels to "Troll." However, this does not prevent distributors from releasing the "first" and "second" parts under one cover.
  • Due to the fact that the main character of the Harry Potter novel series shares a name with the two main characters of "Troll", the film's creators suspect J.K. Rowling of plagiarism. In 2011, it was announced that "Troll" might have a prequel with the working title "The Troll: Rise of Harry Potter". However, neither Rowling nor Warner Bros. would be able to sue over the use of the phrase "Harry Potter".
