What's left behind the scenes
- Work on the film was postponed for a year because the previous film received mixed reviews from critics. This was also done to give J.K. Rowling time to refine the plot.
- Steven Kloves is writing the screenplay for the first time in 10 years. J.K. Rowling herself insisted on this.
- Alexander Kuznetsov, who played Helmut, has a broken nose. This is not the result of makeup or special effects. Kuznetsov actually broke his nose in a boxing match once.
- Johnny Depp filmed only one scene in the movie, after which he was removed from the cast. According to the media, his contract was structured in such a way that he received his full salary for the entire film – $16 million – for filming just that one scene.
- Some scenes were originally intended to be filmed in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, but due to the pandemic, filming had to be moved to Bhutan. One of these scenes includes a short insert of footage shot in Rio de Janeiro.
