What's left behind the scenes
- This is the twenty-seventh Godzilla film, the twelfth Mothra film, the fifth Mechagodzilla (Kiryu) film, and the second film featuring Kamabas, as well as the only film in the Millennium series of Godzilla films whose plot is connected to another film in the Millennium series.
- The two Mothra larvae in one egg are borrowed from the film "Godzilla vs. Mothra" (1964).
- Kiryu, newly restored and destroyed again, is a reference to "Terror of Mechagodzilla" (1975).
- This is the last film to feature Mechagodzilla (Kiryu). He can also be seen in the opening credits of the subsequent film "Godzilla: Final Wars" (2004).
