What's left behind the scenes

  • When Norman calls the radio show for the first time, he introduces himself as Ed. As is known, the author of 'Psycho,' Robert Bloch, based his work on the story of Ed Gein, a serial killer from Wisconsin.
  • This is the first film to be shot in the soundstages of 'Universal' Studios in Florida.
  • When Norman first calls into the radio show, he introduces himself as Ed. As it happens, the author of the novel "Psycho," Robert Bloch, based his work on the story of Ed Gein, a Wisconsin serial killer.
  • Anthony Perkins and Charles Edward Pogue (who was the screenwriter for Perkins' "Psycho 3," 1986) originally conceived the plot of the fourth film in the franchise as a black comedy, but the executives at Universal Pictures did not approve of this idea.
  • During the filming of the first murder scene, Henry Thomas became so engrossed that his own hand was hit, damaging some nerve endings. He still has a scar on his hand to this day.
