What's left behind the scenes

  • Barrymore, one of the producers, doesn't particularly like firearms, so the Angels are presented in the film as martial arts experts. Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore, and Lucy Liu underwent intense training for their roles under the guidance of renowned Hong Kong choreographer Yuen Woo-ping.
  • Many candidates were considered for the role of Alex, including Beyoncé, Lauryn Hill, and Victoria Beckham. Tandie Newton was offered the role but later declined. Ultimately, Lucy Liu played Alex.
  • According to Icelandic singer Björk, she was invited to play the villain, but she turned down the offer.
  • Drew Barrymore acquired the film rights shortly before filming began. This decision earned her $80 million.
  • After Dylan, played by Drew Barrymore, crashes, she ends up practically undressed in a house where two boys are playing video games. This same house appeared in "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial" (Steven Spielberg, 1982), where Barrymore played one of her first roles in film.
  • The character played by Crispin Glover originally had lines, but the actor disliked them so much that he asked for them to be removed. Director McG and producer Drew Barrymore did not object.
  • The secret language of the "angels" is Finnish.
  • To prepare for their roles, the actresses trained in martial arts for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, for 3 months.
