- According to a well-known urban legend, the film's director was so upset by the criticism that he attempted suicide.
- The film was shot by Phil Tucker in 4 days. The main filming took place in Bronson Canyon, with the exception of a few scenes shot at the director's house in Los Angeles.
- Since the film's budget did not allow for the purchase of a robot costume for filming, Tucker asked his friend George Burrows, who owned a gorilla suit, to play the role of Robo-Vec. A diving helmet with wire antennas attached completed the image of the menacing alien.
