What's left behind the scenes
- Jenny Han, author of the *To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before* trilogy, initially made Lara Jean half-Korean. She later stated that representatives from many studios approached her regarding the rights to an adaptation, but all stipulated that the heroine be made white. According to Han, only one studio was willing to leave everything as it was. Eventually, it was decided to make the heroine Asian American from an adoptive family. Lana Condor, of Vietnamese birth, who was adopted by American parents at six months old, was cast in the role.
- Jenny Han herself made a cameo appearance in the dance scene between Lara Jean and Luke.
- Lara Jean's phone background is a picture of her and Peter sleeping. The actors were resting after filming when someone from the crew saw them and took a picture.
- The film features Yakult yogurt, which is very popular in Korea and Japan.
