What's left behind the scenes

  • The film is based on the true story of Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow – notorious American robbers who operated during the Great Depression.
  • Jane Fonda, Cher, and Shirley MacLaine were among those who auditioned for the role of Bonnie Parker.
  • The heads of Warner Bros. studio weren't very confident in this project and even offered Warren Beatty 40% of the profits instead of a fee.
  • After Faye Dunaway wore a beret during filming, berets experienced a surge in popularity in the United States.
  • In 1992, the film was included in the National Film Registry of the United States of America.
  • Warren Beatty hesitated for a long time whether to play the main role or not, as Clyde was short in real life, and he envisioned Bob Dylan in the part. Casting was done based on finding actors who resembled real people.
  • Before filming began, Faye Dunaway was ordered to lose 12 kg to match her character. The actress starved herself for weeks, sometimes only eating salad. She also wore a 5 kg weight belt and wrist weights to lose weight faster. She only took them off at night and in the shower.
