What's left behind the scenes

  • All seven princes are taken from fairy tales from different countries around the world, and the characters' accents reflect their origin. Merlin and Arthur are borrowed from the legends of King Arthur and therefore speak with a British accent; Jack is taken from the tale of Jack and the Beanstalk, and speaks with a French pronunciation; Hans is taken from the story of Hansel and Gretel, and speaks with a German accent; Pino, Noki and Kio are borrowed from the story of Pinocchio, and their pronunciation reveals them as Italians.
  • Merlin is a wizard from the Eastern Kingdom, so some elements of Asian cultures can be discerned in his appearance. Characteristic features of the Korean traditional costume are noticeable in Merlin’s attire, and Korean symbols are present in the writing of his spells.
  • During the screening of the cartoon at the Cannes Film Festival in 2017, certain questions arose regarding the poster displayed as part of the advertising campaign, particularly the slogan “What if Snow White hadn’t been beautiful, and the dwarves hadn’t been short?”. Public outrage soon extended to the cartoon itself, and the producers had to publicly express regret regarding the slogan.
  • The appearance of the three bears was born from the cartoon artist's reflections on a pie from which a piece had already been cut. The shade of these characters' fur was inspired by the color of a bread crust.
  • The fairy tale island initially resembled an amusement park. Some elements of the original design have been preserved in the final version – for example, the prince's castle, which resembles a Ferris wheel.
