What's left behind the scenes
- Initially, Ezra Miller was supposed to play James Linton, but he was ultimately given the role of Salvador Dalí in his youth, and Christopher Briney was cast as Linton.
- When the future project was first announced, Leslie Manville was supposed to play Gala on screen. Ultimately, Barbara Sukowa played this character.
- In one scene, Gala tells James that Walt Disney (as she put it, "the man with the silly mouse") and Dalí intend to make a film. She was referring to the film *Destino*, which Dalí and Disney began working on in 1945, but it was not released until 2003, 14 years after Dalí’s death. After the release of *Fantasia 2000* in 1999, Roy Edward Disney, Walt Disney’s nephew, discovered the unfinished film and completed it.
