What's left behind the scenes
- To film this movie, cinematographer John Seale, who had long been retired, returned to work for the second time. The first time he came out of retirement to work on the science fiction action film "Mad Max: Fury Road" (2015), which was also directed by George Miller.
- Initially, it was assumed that George Miller and Nick Enright (1950-2003) would write the screenplay for the film, but Enright died of cancer before he and Miller began writing. Before his death, Enright suggested that Augusta Gore, Miller's daughter and his goddaughter, take his place as screenwriter.
- Initially, it was planned to film in Australia, London, and Istanbul, with shooting starting in March 2020. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, filming in London and Istanbul had to be cancelled, and everything was shot in Australia.
