What's left behind the scenes
- "All in the Gathering" is the first of four "American Pies" where the screenplay was not written by Adam Herz. He remained on the project as an executive producer and oversaw the work of screenwriters John Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg.
- This is the fifth film with the word "American" in the title in Mena Suvari's career. In addition to the first two "Pies," she also starred in the comedy "American Virgin" (1999) and the drama "American Beauty" (1999).
- The school scenes were filmed from July 11 to 15, 2011, at Newton High School in the small town of Covington, Georgia. They involved 200 extras, primarily local residents. The production company paid the Newton County school administration ten thousand dollars for the use of school facilities.
- Famous New England Patriots American football player Chad Ochocinco appears in a cameo as himself.
- The beach scenes were filmed in late July 2011 on the shore of Lake Lanier reservoir in Georgia with the participation of 100 extras. Producers believed that its shores visually differed little from the coast of Lake Michigan, where the film's action is supposed to take place. Local authorities received $23,000 as compensation for providing the location for filming and related inconveniences.
- All three of the first installments of 'American Pie' were released in early August, while the fourth came out at Easter in the first half of April.
