What's left behind the scenes
- Since 2007, Garfield had consistently been voiced by Frank Welker, but here Bill Murray took on the role, and Welker publicly expressed his dissatisfaction with this. Similarly, Gregg Berger was unhappy that he wasn't asked to voice Odie the puppy.
- When Garfield crosses the street, he passes by "Lorenzo's Music Shop." Garfield was originally voiced by actor Lorenzo Music, and this is a reference to him.
- The number on the garbage can is actually the release date of the first Garfield comic strip. This happened on June 19, 1978.
