What's left behind the scenes
- The film premiered on October 18, 1973, during the height of the Yom Kippur War between Israel and Arab countries. On the same day, the press attaché’s wife hijacked a plane to prevent the film’s release, which she claimed was pro-Israel. She was eventually shot by a police sniper.
- Louis de Funès (1914-1983) later said in an interview that if he had any racial prejudices, working on this film put an end to them forever.
