What's left behind the scenes

  • Director, screenwriter, and producer Zach Braff once spoke about the significance of toy trains in his own childhood and the influence they had on this film. He once had a toy train in his basement that Braff constantly played with, found comfort in, and spent a lot of time with. The train was simpler than the one belonging to Morgan Freeman’s character in the film, but in both cases, the toy soothed the owner and helped them escape into a world of their own dreams and fantasies.
