What's left behind the scenes
- In one scene, Snow remarks: "Contrary to popular belief, I am not Houdini." Guy Pearce played Harry Houdini in the film "Death Defying Acts" (2007).
- A Wilhelm scream can be heard in the film during the scene where a prisoner trips and falls immediately after exiting stasis.
- When the stasis pods open for the first time, one of them can be seen opening twice.
- Once the script was completed, the directors convinced Besson that they needed to fully “pre-visualize” the future film using storyboards and animated models of the characters and sets.
- Pre-visualization proved extremely useful for the heads of the technical departments, who were able to gain a clearer understanding of the specifics of the action scenes, and also for the stunt performers, who understood what the directors wanted to achieve. And considering that all the technical specialists came from different backgrounds – Brazil, Ireland, France, Serbia – pre-visualization successfully helped them overcome the language barrier.
- A French company was the main initiator of the film’s creation (and also produced it); filming took place in Serbia, with English-speaking actors in the leading roles, while the project benefited from Irish tax incentives.
- Some of the sets and props combined technical constructions with green screen elements – such as the space police department shaped like a cloverleaf, with Earth and the depths of space as a backdrop, or the highway where the motorcycle chase unfolds.
- The scene in the Oval Office was filmed at the Amstel brewery, located in the suburbs of the Serbian capital.
- While editing and color correction took place in France, the visual effects were handled by the Irish studio Windmillane.
- The main villains are the brothers Alex and Haidell. Alex Hiddell is a pseudonym used by Lee Harvey Oswald.
