What's left behind the scenes
- As with the film itself, the excerpts from the series The Pink Opaque shown in it were shot on 35mm film and then converted to VHS and Betamax formats during post-production to match the image quality typical of the late 1990s.
- The fictional television series The Pink Opaque, featured in the film, was inspired by projects such as "The Secret World of Alex Mack" (1994-1998), "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" (1997-2003), and "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" (1990-2000).
- Initially, the storyline of the election was shown without interruption in one long take, but test audiences found it tedious, and the entire storyline was removed. The deleted scenes can be found on the Blu-ray release.
