What's left behind the scenes
- The figure known as "Scuba Steve" in the film was conceived and made by Adam Sandler. It was based on a toy figure he had as a child, called "Deep Sea Dan." "Deep Sea Dan" makes a brief appearance at the beginning of director Dennis Dugan’s other film, *Problem Child* (1990).
- Adam Sandler’s wife played the waitress in the bar. This began Sandler’s tradition of casting her in a cameo role in every film in which he stars.
- While filming was underway, Frank Coraci's "Bedtime Stories" (1998) became a box office success, and Sony informed the film crew and actors that the film's budget had been increased, allowing them to expand already-shot scenes or shoot new ones. This allowed for the expansion of supporting roles played by Rob Schneider and Steve Buscemi.
- During filming, Julian Cole Sprouse and Dylan Sprouse lost their baby teeth, which had to be replaced with prosthetics. Dylan Sprouse lost a tooth right in the middle of filming one of the takes. Adam Sandler's character says to Julian near the end of the film: “Hey, are you still walking around without a tooth?”
